Central Luzon Human Rights Training held on April 29
Posted Wednesday, 07 May 2008

Image ImageMore than two dozen print, radio and TV journalists joined in a one-day introductory session on reporting human rights in Pampanga on April 29. The project heard that up until then, reporters in Central Luzon imagined the issue of ‘human rights’ to be limited to the killing and disappearances of journalists and political activists .But almost immediately, the group began discussing the role of the media in improving understanding around such diverse issues such as the plight of indigenous people, mining, access to water, education and information –as well as the growing food crisis. The Philippine Human Rights Project is very grateful to the management of the Fontana Leisure Parks for providing both venue and refreshments for free in recognition of the value of the training.
